Gemware was started by Steve Adams in 1993, providing IT solutions to South African businesses. Back then, DOS development was the norm, and Gemsafe was developed as a gemstone and diamond inventory control solution. Since then technology has developed ever quicker, and although the internet has opened the door to web-based and cloud computing, there are still many areas in South Africa with limited internet access. With this in mind we set out to provide hybrid desktop/web-based solutions to cope with limited or sporadic internet access.
Steve Adams is the main developer, coding mainly in VB.net on the Microsoft Windows platform, and ASP.net, PHP, mySQL, WordPress and WooCommerce for web-based solutions. Other development is outsourced to keep costs down and enable us to provide cost-effective business solutions.
